Claire's Message
Thursday, 18 December 2008 00:00

CLAIRE'S MESSAGE!  Don't let another girl die unnecessarily!

Reduce Cervical Screening in England from 25 to 18 years!

Claire started the campaign to lower the age of cervical screening in England from 25 to 18 in June 2008, where she first appeared in the media.

As Claire's condition deteriorated she wasn't able to campaign enough as she would have liked to so she concentrated more on helping other women on jo's trust

Sadly Claire passed away on 18th of September 2008, shortly after this her parents and myself decided to carry on the campaign in honor of her, titled Claire's Message!

We raised a petition which we have over 5000 signatures and over 50 of them came from every senator from the USA. We contacted the press and news in hope that Claire's Message would make a difference. We contacted our local MP Fraser Kemp hoping he could help and he did!

On December 17th 2008 Mr Kemp managed to raise Claire's Message in a parliamentary debate in the houses of common, He spoke to health minister Ann Keen who thanked Mr Kemp for raising the issue and said the government had a duty to "look again" when concerns were raised. She also paid tribute to Claire for her Brave battle and our family for carrying on the campaign.

If the government do change the rule it'll be down to Claire's Message! Maybe she will "Make a Difference" to other people's lives.

Beginning of February 2009 Claire's Message was supported by all 75 of Sunderland's councillors.

The Petition we raised has now got over 8000 signatures.
