Some of the messages sent to us

On the petition form, there is also an area that allows you to drop a message to us, here i have randomly added a few of the messages that people have sent over.

There has been almost 3000 petitions signed and handed in here, so we couldn't physically add all those into this page, but please trust me every one is read and then printed off to be included into the petition that will be handed into downing street.

i am only young and all this talk of cervical cancer is very worrying so id like to think that if i felt worried i could be checked out. obviously i would not be able to only being 23 so it is quite worryibg really.

The age for screening should be bought down to 18 (if not lower). I have two daughters aged 25 & 28. My eldest daughter had problems a few years ago which would have been prevented if she had been of the age for a smear test.

I requested a smear test, when having a check up with a nurse last year, but was refused point blank due to my age, despite explaining that a friend of mine had been diagnosed with cervical cancer at the age of 25 and is still under-going treatment.

At aged 18 I pestered my Doctor for a smear test. Eventually I got one at the age of 21. My cells were abnormal. I did not have HPV. Had I waited until 25 for my first smear test it would have been too late for me. (This is not me speculating, this is a fact presented to me by Bournemouth Hospital).

I had pre cancerous cells of the cervix when i was 17 years old, I went on at 19 years of age to have a colposcopy (where they burn out the cells at the bottom of the womb before more invasive surgery) If I hadn't been able to have a smear test at such a young age, There's no telling what could have happened to me..... Cervical cancer is a silent killer and needs to be treated as soon as it is found. 23 is far too old to have your first smear test!!!

I would just like to say that Claire\'s Message is such a wonderful thing. I followed her story closely. She was a remarkable young lady, and I have such admiration for her. You are all doing such a wonderful thing, I was diagnosed with CC aged 26 (I am 29 now) and I just want to thank you for helping raise awareness of this disease. Love Braidy. xx

Dear All I am sorry for this intrusion, for what I know is a difficult time for you all. I wish to applaud you all for your strength and resolve, I\'m sure that Claire is proud of you all! Although we are winning the battle regarding cervical age screening with the government reviewing the age, the petition that I have had the honour of signing is more important than ever to make sure that they make the right decision. I am a singer/songwriter (my artist name is-THE KING OF DANCE) , after reading about the stresses and problems encountered by cancer sufferers and their problems I would like to do my small part to help. I have released a track on itunes/ emusic/ dittomusic called -IN A WORLD OF 3 BILLION, any royalties that i receive from this track I intend to donate to a variety of cancer charities (e.g. jo\'s trust). But if this charity record is to be a success then I need help to publicise it. I will of course be attending the protest on wednesday and wondered if any of the following would be possible please? 1. for one of the petition delivery group to mention my track and artist name and where it is available from-if there is any news coverage or any subsequent radio or tv appearances please. OR 2. for me to have the honour of being part of that petition delivery group and for me to be allowed to speak about the charity track that I have released to any news reporters and be allowed to take part in any subsequent radio ot tv appearances that the petition delivery group might partake in. I know that I am asking a lot of help from you good people, but your help is to help me raise money for cancer charities (eg jo\'s trust)and deepen the memory of the lovely claire and other cancer victims. Thank you for taking the trouble to read this email. You can listen to a sample of the track-IN A WORLD OF 3 BILLION on youtube.com at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKl-3AysLzg my phone no.07986 774 993 my email address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer which was only detected via Cervical Screening, I was fortunate that it was in the early stages, and I have made 100% recovery. Therefore the screening age MUST be lowered.

I was 16 when a smear found i had abnormal cells, if i had have to have waited till i was 25 to get a smear god only knows what would have happened. The only reason i got a smear was because i had to go to the hospitals GU centre cos my boyfriend at the time had a STD.

They should definatley lower the age of smear tests! At the end of the day its not a male politicians life that hangs in the balance its the females! Heaven forbid, one of their daughters getting this terrible diease due to not being screened earlier!

i was shocked when i first went to see about having a smear test as id reached 19.which i thought was the required age.they told me its now gone up to 25.i think if your in a sexual relationship it should be aloud.my friend was only 19 when she was diagnoised with cervical cancer.luckely they caught it in time.even bring it back down to 20 would be better.this as been a strong subject of mine which ive spoke about to many people including doctors and nurses.but mainly falls on death ears.glad something is being done at last

Smear tests should be done, from when a woman is first sexually active. Not left until 20 (in Scotland) or 25! At least at 18 it shouldn\'t have left it too late.

If i hadnt had my abnormal cells detected at age 20 i could be dying right now

When i was 18 i was told that i had had changes in my smear test.By the age of 19 it had progressed and i had to have cervical freezing to prevent it changing further. As far as i am concerned although it is not pleasent it is a necessity,so should be given to prevent other people having to go through the stress and worry i had at an early age.

I really hope the age gets lowered, as like my self and a lot of other girls it is really worrying knowing we may have this but we just dont know about it. And we wouldnt be how to find out untill we are 25 thats stupid it could be to late

my mum, my aunty and their cousin all had smear tests at aged 20 and were found to have abnormal cells which (thankfully) was sorted out. when I go and ask for a test I am told I am too young and have to wait. If my mum and sunty had to wait. they may not be here. explain how this is fair and right???

I am 22 and i have asked my doctor for a smear test as my sister who is 26 had abnormal cells, and they still said that i can not have a test done until i am 25. This is wrong!!!!!!!

Early signs of cell irregularity (early cancer) were discovered when I was 40. This was after a cervial smear test. I had a hysterectomy and have remained well since then.

I had laser treatment at 19.I was speaking to my friend the otherday about this. She had a cone biopsy before the age of 25 too and her friend had laser treatment.Another friend of mine is going through it now ar 23.Before jade goody us girls never passed this information on to our friends because we didnt think it was of shared interest.Seems its more common than i thought.Thats pretty high statistics and includes 3 out of the three people i know.girls should be screened well before25.

I wish it to be known that I think the age should be lowered to 18 years of age. We cannot have young peoples life ending early and it is little to go through if your young ones are to be given a fair crack at life, they are our future, so please give them a chance.

A message for Alex.

Dear Alex, Life can be so very hard without a mummy to give you hugs and kisses and just  be there when you want a chat. But don't ever stop talking to her, it helps just a little to think that she is always listening to you, she will always be there to talk to even if she can't talk back. Your mummy sounds like a very brave strong young lady and your daddy is very strong too. That must mean your a very loved little boy. Don't be afraid to cry when you miss your mum and don't be affaid to laugh and smile when you think of her. Stay strong little man x
